NJ Pine Barrens Trail Run
« on: June 16, 2009, 02:15:19 PM »
I went on a little adventure in the Wharton State Forest in southern New Jersey.  It was a blast.  Lots of sand and mud.  A few hill climbs.  Plenty of fast, twisty, technical trails.  My nearly stock Tracker kicked plenty of ass out there.  Here's some pics of the group.

Yeah, there was lots of crawling to be had....but we did manage to get up to 30mph in some crazy twisty sections.  Like rally style.  It was intense!  Oh, and there was some carnage too.  The green/yellow Samurai rolled coming down a gnarly hill climb.

Looks like a good time! Bummer for the guy with the rollover, was everything ok? Or did that trash his day?

Bummer indeed.  We had to drag it down the hill away from that tree...his battery went flying...windshield smashed....all his brake fluid drained out....lost some fuses....and fuel was leaking through the carb.

BUT.  Once we got it on level ground and he hooked up all his wires...it fired right up!  He drove it out of the woods, and another guy went off to a local parts store to buy brake fluid.  He filled his reservoir, and they bled the brakes....and he drove it all the way home(slowly...and we followed him.)  That Samurai is a tough little trucklet!

Yeah he and his girl passenger were both fine.  Noone was hurt.  And the owner of the samurai isn't even bummed out.  He said he had a good weekend, and this gives him an excuse to do more work on the samurai.

Glad to hear, I'm sure with a little time and money the vehicle will be back and better than before.
