I recently sort of crushed one of my side view mirrors when I slightly flipped my truck over.   So I'm looking to replace the shoddy plastic Ford mirrors with some nice steel ones.   Anyone have any info for me??

Yep.   Really miserable weather today....we were not expecting snow.   And the roads were pretty slick.

I need some lift shackles......maybe some blocks and u-bolts.....shocks...I definitely need longer shocks.   And tires if you have em.  I'll be needing some 35's I think.

Never rode a bike before, and I already love this thing!  Found a sweeeet deal for 500 bucks!

No rust at all...no tears in the seat.  Only has 31k miles.  It's in really awesome condition.

Ford Rangers, F-Series, etc. / Should I upgrade and buy a newer truck?!?
« on: February 09, 2010, 03:42:24 PM »
We just got a gem at the dealership!   :o     A 1999 F-250 Superduty with the 5.4 liter gas engine.  Automatic trans.  Rear wheel drive.....and it's got twin I-beams!   I never knew the superduty trucks were built with twin beams.   It was taken for inspection today....and will hit the lot within a few days.   We're asking 4k for it.    Only has 112k miles.

Should I buy it?   I don't really want a car payment...so I'm hoping someone talks me out of it....but on the other hand.   It's a pretty huge upgrade on my current two wheel drive.  Hmmm....

Classifieds / new/used/cheap 33's or 35's ....looking to buy this spring.
« on: December 09, 2009, 08:39:20 PM »
As the title says...I'll need some tall tires in the spring.  At LEAST 33" tall....and no more than 12.5" wide.   I'm not even looking for tires until the spring....but if one of you guys has any laying around, or knows where I might acquire some, let me know will you?

KTHNX!

Projects / Mooch's Official Prerunner build thread.
« on: November 07, 2009, 02:30:17 PM »
Gonna be a LONG project....   :P     But since I found some sweet treasure today, I guess I gotta make this thread.

Look what I found at the junkyard!   :o

One of the arms is bent and twisted up quite badly....but I still took it.  Maybe I can heat it up and straighten it out....or cut it apart and make a new one.  I'm hoping to find out who made them and try to buy a replacement for it.  Without doing any searching...my first guess is Superlift.  Look at the "S" cutout on the flat piece of metal.  Or maybe Skyjacker....?

I also got the brackets to drop the I-beams, and I got the coil springs.  There was blocks under the leafs in the back...and I was going to grab em, but it was getting late, and I was hungry.   ::)    I can source those later.  And shocks too....I need shocks.   Is there anything I am forgetting?   Just to fix/replace that radius arm, buy lift blocks for rear, and a set of shocks.

What I mentioned, and what you see in the pics...only cost me 70 dollars.   ;D    Not bad, for most of the pieces of a lift kit that costs over 1500.

I wanna look for sweet upgrades for my truck, but all the offroad mags are geared toward Jeeps usually.  I can't find a mag that will have parts for my F-150 in it.  Like gears and coilovers and fiberglass fenders.

Engine / at work today....
« on: July 30, 2009, 04:48:53 PM »
my big accomplishment for the day was a set of valve cover gaskets for an 80 something monte carlo SS.   they were a bitch to change....and there's so much smog bullcrap on that thing, that i had about a million or so wires and hoses in the way.

i burned myself at least 400 dozen times on my work light.   >:(    i even managed to lean on it by accident..  oops!   :o

got the new gaskets on, put it all back together....and it fired right up!   job well done, as long as it doesnt leak any more oil......

i'm new at this mechanic stuff...but i'm picking it up quick.   tomorrow is an engine transplant in a dodge dakota.  yay!
