i was also thinking spacers/adapters were a bad idea. i've seen them used around the minitruckin world to adjuist offsets of wheels or bolt up a differrent lug pattern and they always seem to be a weak point. i would imagine they wouldn't withstand much bouncing around in a prerunner.
 
so dezertrat. i see that you added some front suspension and it made the track wider in the front. true? so the front width is different than the back? is this a common thing or do most people switch out the whole rear axle for a equally sized width?
 
and another random question. did they make a 1997 to 2003 4door in 2wd other than the harley davidson edition? all i seem to find online are 4x4. i'd like 2wd 4dr but ill go with just extended cab if i have too.

thanks. right after i posted it i thought to myself, wouldn't it have been easier to just called dixon racing and ask them? lol
 
but i do have another question. it says that it changes the width of the front suspension and makes it wider, 4inches or something. so what about the back. do most people use adapters to make the back wider or different wheel offsets in the back or just leave the front wider than the back? again.. new to prerunners.

i'm new to prerunners and i have a question. if i buy deaver springs, what height do i get? i'm looking at the dixon front suspension for the 2wd f150 and it doesn't list how much it changes the height. it just lists the amount of travel. but in the photo it obviously is lifted more than stock (unless the bigger fenders and larger tires are causing it to look like it has some suspension lift.) i'm making my list of things to get and need some input. i don't want the truck to sit uneven. thanks for any help you can give me.

sorry i don't have any better pics. i'm currently in iraq (in the army) and all my photos are on a disc in the states. these i copy/pasted from my myspace page. it still needs a drivetrain/paint/suspension fine tuning. hopefully will be done by summer 2010.
 
but as far as a prerunner, i don't see much chevy stuff and even less s10 prerunners. i don't want to get into a situation where i can't find simple bolt-on suspension parts, etc. so i'm thinking ford.

i'm current truck... 2000 s10. bodydropped. 20's and 22's. custom back half frame. all custom build rear suspension. dash from an old mercury
(i think) hopefully i'll finish it some day.

hello to everyone. i'm completely new to prerunners, but have built a few other things. it all started with a tuner honda civic back in the 90's. back then they called them custom compacts because import tuner wasn't really a phrase yet. then i moved on to minitrucks and built a s10 and helped build a few other trucks with friends. i've had a great time riding low with the minis, but now i want to get some more ground clearance and a 4door fullsize for my growing family.
 
i can't tell you the $1000s i've wasted buying parts i ended up not needing or replacing for something else. so i need everyone's help to start off on the right foot. i have a million questions. but i'll start with these:
 
4wd or 2wd?
automatic or standard?
is an f150 basically the most common prerunner?
is a cage necessary to start with?
any texas clubs/groups/shops?
 
 
thanks for any answers. i'm not really looking for a debate about 2wd vs. 4wd. or auto vs. standard. these debates have been going on and will never end. i'm looking for what most people use, what will work best and be the simplest to build with the most avail parts. i've done unique before and ended up having to try and fab parts. so to start my prerunner build i want what is "the industry standard" if that makes any sense.

no one makes a center mount kit? i don't think a bolt on kit would be that hard, just bigger arms, etc. does it have to be 2wd?
